Celebrating Brad – A Tribute to Art & Life
We each know someone who has battled some form of cancer… supporting those who have been affected by this disease – fighters, survivors, family and friends – is integral to hope, healing, awareness, and above all else finding a cure.
The Celebrating Brad Foundation was formed to honor the memory of our dear friend Brad Germata, who lost his fight with cancer on October 12th, 2009. At our premiere event in 2010, we raised over $20,000 thanks to the generous support from Brad’s classmates, friends and family – the Milwaukee art/design community. We’ve continued the tradition by hosting themed events to bring our community together and celebrate Brad each year since. The Celebrating Brad Foundation’s primary goal has been to establish, through the Bradley Germata Scholarship Fund, a legacy for Brad at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, his alma mater. We also feel it’s important to help find a cure for the disease which took Brad’s life. After much deliberation, Wisconsin’s Cancer Center was selected as our research partner. Their annual allotment of our donated funds is used to facilitate additional research at the Cancer Center. We are honored to know that, with your help, we’re contributing to finding a cure to the cancer Brad suffered as well as other life-defeating cancers.
This year’s celebration is a wrap…thanks, again to all who came out to Celebrate Brad – the Chili Cook-off was great fun! Our “30″ Cards for Brad turned out beautifully; they’re now available on our ‘purchase’ page. If you’ve got a moment, visit each event in the ‘past events’ drop down menu of the sidebar to the left and check back soon to see what’s upcoming for 2013 or connect with us on facebook for the further updates. By the way, feel free to make a donation in any amount, anytime as this supports our ongoing event planning. You’ll be listed on our thanks page and, of course, have our never-ending gratitude!
